The United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has officially announced the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holidays for government employees. The holiday will commence on Thursday, April 20, 2023, and conclude on Sunday, April 23, 2023. During this period, government sector employees will enjoy a four-day weekend.

The official dates of Eid Al Fitr are subject to the sighting of the crescent moon. The official announcement for Abu Dhabi will be made accordingly. However, the Emirates Astronomical Society has predicted that the first day of Eid Al Fitr will likely fall on Friday, April 21, 2023.

In preparation for the long weekend, residents across the UAE can look forward to a range of activities and events. From fireworks displays to family-friendly festivals, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Yas Island, Abu Dhabi's popular leisure destination, will host live performances by renowned artists on April 23 and 24. Al Mugheirah Bay in Al Dhafra region will also offer a spectacular fireworks show on April 21.

During the Eid Al Fitr holidays, public parking in Abu Dhabi will be free of charge from Thursday, April 20, until the end of the holiday period. Prayer timings for Eid Al Fitr will be announced by the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, with prayers typically held shortly after sunrise.

In addition to Eid Al Fitr, the UAE has announced a total of 14 public holidays for 2023, providing ample opportunities for residents and visitors to relax and celebrate.
