Dallas Mavericks Coaching Staff

Mavs Hire Marko Milić as Assistant Coach

Under New Head Coach Jason Kidd

Former Slovenian National Team Coach Joins Dallas Staff

The Dallas Mavericks have hired Marko Milić as an assistant coach, the team announced today. Milić joins the Mavericks after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach with the Slovenian national team.

Milić has a wealth of experience in both the NBA and international basketball. He played professionally in Europe for 15 seasons, including stints with the Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Hornets, and Golden State Warriors. He also represented Slovenia in international competition, winning a silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics.

After retiring from playing, Milić began his coaching career as an assistant with the Slovenian national team in 2017. He helped lead Slovenia to a fourth-place finish at the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Milić joins a Mavericks coaching staff led by head coach Jason Kidd. Kidd was hired by the Mavericks in June 2021 after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Mavericks are coming off a disappointing season in which they finished 33-49 and missed the playoffs. Kidd is expected to bring a new energy and excitement to the team, and Milić's experience and knowledge of the game should be a valuable asset.
